Two treated for smoke inhalation during busy day for town’s fire crews

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s fire crews had a busy start to the week, dealing with two incidents in three hours on Monday (September 21st).

Two people were treated for smoke inhalation at West Huntspill after a faulty washing machine caused a fire in a conservatory.

Fire spokesman Paul Slavin told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “One fire engine from Burnham attended an incident in New Road at 10am. They used thermal imaging equipment to check the fire was fully extinguished and an ambulance was called to treat a man and woman inside who had suffered from smoke inhalation.”

In a separate incident, a Burnham fire engine was called to David Salisbury Conservatories on Highbridge’s Isleport Industrial Estate at 1.20pm, as pictured. However, they were quickly stood down. “Some dust had set off the alarms, but it turned out to be a false alarm with good intent,” added Mr Slavin.
