Strong winds swept through the Burnham-On-Sea area on Saturday (October 21st) as Storm Brian arrived.
The intense low pressure system brought a day of gusty winds, reaching up to 60mph.
Burnham’s food festival went ahead as planned, however the organisers halted the outdoor trading at 1pm as a safety precaution, as we reported here.
Large waves were whipped up by the storm, with spray sent over the sea wall during Saturday evening’s high tide in Burnham. The Environment Agency closed the town’s flood gates at the jetty and at Maddock’s Slade.
The agency issued a flood warning along parts of the Bristol Channel coastline, including Brean and Berrow, but there were no reports of flooding.
