Burnham-On-Sea’s MP was in a ‘fighting’ mood when he visited Brean’s annual Country Music Festival on Sunday (September 27th).
David Heathcoat-Amory met business owners and chatted with music fans, including one dressed as an 1860s American Sharp Shooter, pictured above.
After hearing about the history behind the man’s antique weapon, the MP took instructions on how to use it. He quipped: “This might come in handy at next week’s party conference!”
The MP also discussed the state of Brean’s tourism trade with business owners, including Phillip and Mike Scott from Northam Farm Holiday Park, and Chris and Jon Harris from Warren Farm, pictured.
He heard that Northam Farm’s bookings for this year’s country festival are up 30 per cent on the same time last year.
“More people are staying in the UK for holidays and Brean is clearly benefiting from this,” Phillip told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
And Jon Harris from Warren Farm told the MP they too had enjoyed a busy summer.
“Visitor numbers for us have been very healthy over the main season and we’ve also seen strong caravan sales,” added Jon.
Mr Heathcoat-Amory said he was pleased by the positive signals, adding: “Tourism is the fastest growing industry in this constituency, so I am always pleased to support our holiday industry.”
“The investment in new facilities by park owners in Brean is paying off, and the country and western festival is an excellent way of extending the summer season.”
