New Brean Down Trail Run hailed a runaway success

-

Dozens of runners from across the region took part in a brand new trail running event on Brean Down at the weekend.

Two races of 10km and 5km were held on Sunday morning (February 15th), with the 138 runners starting from the foot of the Down, then pacing across the steep slopes of the scenic outcrop to the wartime fort and back.

Co-organiser Tony King, right, told Burnham-On-Sea.com the event had been such a success that a follow-up event is now being planned for later in the year.

“We didn’t know how many runners to expect for our first event here, so we’re delighted to have attracted 138 runners and lots of positive feedback.”

“It’s been a great success and we thank the National Trust for letting is hold it here. We hope to be back for a Santa Scramble trail run in December there’s talk of a series of runs in the future.”
