Burnham-On-Sea RNLI ball raises £1,500 for lifeboats charity

-

Burnham-On-Sea RNLI’s annual ball raised over £1,500 for the lifeboats charity.

Over 200 crew, enthusiasts and supporters flocked to the Batch Country Hotel in Lympsham for an evening of food, entertainment and music.

Organiser Lesley Hart opened the evening, followed by a short documentary about the RNLI.

After a three-course meal, Chairman Ashley Edwards introduced the Burnham-On-Sea crewmembers, inviting them to join him until virtually the whole of the Burnham lifeboat station crew were stood at the front.

Ashley said the RNLI would not operate without its volunteers, fundraisers, and supporters.

This was followed by a short presentation of thanks for organiser Lesley, before local party band Six Machine started the first of their two sets.

Guests were able to take advantage of the Batch selfie booth, plus two casino tables in the ante room. A well supported raffle helped to swell the funds during the event, which raised around £1,500 in total.

Lesley said: “The RNLI is one big family, with the emphasis on team work, and in a crisis we are all there for one another. I wish to thank the crew for their support in bringing this amazing event together.”
