Burnham-On-Sea town centre craft shop scoops national award

-

Delighted staff at a Burnham-On-Sea craft shop are celebrating this week after scooping a top national award for a ninth year running!

At the British Craft Awards in Birmingham on Sunday (February 15th), Material Needs, which is based in Burnham High Street, scooped the coveted national award for best overall retailer in the UK for 2015. It was also named ‘South West Stitching Retailer Of The Year’.

The shop’s owners, John and Katharine Edwards, told Burnham-On-Sea.com they are “thrilled and honoured” to have won the award.

John said: “We are really pleased and proud that Material Needs has been recognised in this way once again. It is a huge achievement, not only for us at the shop, but for a small town like Burnham as well.”

“This year’s competition was held online so no entries were made by customers on the old paper route so we really didn’t know how we’d done or whether we’d won – it’s been a lovely surprise! A big thank you once again goes to all those who voted for us – we are very grateful.”

A Burnham Chamber of Trade spokesman said: “Burnham has many fantastic independent shops that are happy to go that extra mile by delighting customers with top quality and service. Materials Needs is a super example of this and is highly deserving of this award. We offer John and Katherine our congratulations.”

And Bev Milner Simonds, Town Centre Manager, added: “Material Needs have shown consistently high performance in these awards and are firmly established as the South West’s premier choice for sewers and crafters. They are an asset to Burnham-On-Sea and I wish them many congratulations.”
