Burnham-On-Sea fire crews were called to a fire that had been deliberately started in a bin store during the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).
Firefighters from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called to Pier Street, Burnham-On-Sea just before 2.15am.
The crews were contacted by an alarm monitoring company. A crew from Burnham-On-Sea initially attended, before a back-up team from Bridgwater was also dispatched to the scene.
A spokesman for the fire service told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The fire was extinguished using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and one safety jet.”
“There was 20 per cent heat and smoke damage to the bin store and this fire was started deliberately.”
Avon and Somerset Constabulary has been informed of the incident and an investigation is underway – call 101 with any information.
