Colourful new exhibition opens at Burnham-On-Sea art gallery

-

A new exhibition of photography, photoart and acrylic paintings has opened in Burnham-On-Sea this week.

Sea Breeze in Victoria Street is showcasing the work of talented artists Graham McPherson and Wendy Asplin.

“Followers of Graham’s previous exhibitions will be delghted by the mix of photographs and acrylic paintings that he is presenting on this occasion,” Sea Breeze’s Rhonda Mills told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“These pictures are all on canvas and mounted in driftwood frames, which he makes himself and have become his ‘trademark’. He continues to provide a variety of images of the local area and Scotland which produce emotional responses and a sense of wonder in the viewer.”

Wendy is a local artist and photographer, who was born and lives in Somerset.

“Her enthusiasm and passion to create a series of photographic images was inspired by the beauty, power and spiritual ambiance of Somerset, the surrounding woodlands, and rugged coast, where she tries to spend most of her free time walking or just soaking up the reviving atmosphere,” added Rhonda.

“She enjoys taking images from unusual and different angles, seeing how the shape, texture and colour is altered by light, and she loves experimenting with her images using software on her computer, therefore producing dynamic patterns and colourful digital works of art. The paintings she has included in her exhibition are acrylic on canvas.”

The free entry exhibition, with exhibits available to purchase, runs until Saturday 24th October 2009 at Sea Breeze (01278 783276) opposite the Ritz Cinema.

Opening hours are 10am until 5.30pm Monday to Friday, except Wednesday (early closing at 2pm) with Saturday 10am until 5pm.
