£14,000 grant boost for Burnham United football club and Scout group

-

Two groups in Burnham-On-Sea are celebrating this week after receiving grant windfalls from Sedgemoor District Council.

The council announced on Monday (October 12th) that its Grants Award Sub Committee had awarded almost £14,000 of funding to two groups.

Burnham United Junior and Senior Football Club is to receive £12,346 towards the cost of improving toilet and shower facilities in its changing rooms at Cassis Close.

A new disabled toilet in the clubhouse will also be built using the funding, which has been awarded as part of an RTL3 grant application.

Burnham United’s First Team Manager Ashley Plant told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s great news – this is a huge amount of money for us and it will allow the revamp of our changing rooms to go ahead. Anything to make our facilities more professional is very welcome indeed.”

A further £2,500 has also been awarded to Burnham Scout Group, which has 90 young members and 20 leaders, to assist with its activities.
