Members of Burnham-On-Sea’s Hillview Carnival Club are working round the clock to put the finishing touches to their cart in time for the start of the new carnival season.
Called ‘Yee Ha’, this year’s Hillview entry is a cowboy-themed float with colourful western decorations that is sure to be a hit with spectators along the routes of the processions around Somerset during the coming weeks.
The entry will go on show at the Bridgwater Carnival on Saturday (November 4th) followed by the Burnham-On-Sea Carnival on Monday (November 6th).
“All the children are really looking forward to putting on another great display,” the club’s Lyn Burland told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“They are especially looking foward to taking part in front of their home town procession on Monday.”
The club has around a dozen builders and decorateers working around the clock this week to get the entry finished in time.
“It’s been a great team effort again this year – it’s all going to plan, but it’s turning out to be a hugely busy time putting the finishing touches to the cart before we head to Bridgwater on Saturday morning.”
The club has nineteen young members taking part on the cart, several of whom will be taking part for the first time and who are extra excited for the processions.
She added that the club thanks Burnham Waste, Mr and Mrs Rickard, The Oaktree, the Lighthouse Pub, Morley Tibbs and Jays Transport for their support.
