Two sisters who were raised in the village of Mark near Burnham-On-Sea have returned to save the pub they grew up in, less than a year after it was closed by the previous owners.
The White Horse Inn on the Mark Causeway was home to Harriet and Hannah McKenzie between 1993-2001 when it was owned by their parents, and the pair have always wanted to go back and run it as their own.
Now, their dream has come true and the pub has been re-opened by the pair, who have taken charge.
Harriet told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Our parents took on the pub back in 1993 for nine years and we spent most of our earlier childhood here. It’s held so many happy memories for us and we had always said we would like to return one day and when that opportunity came up we felt the timing was right.”
“After months of refurbishment and negotiations with the PubCo we have finally opened our doors.”
