A coffee morning held at a Burnham-On-Sea church to promote Fairtrade products has been hailed a success by organisers.
Around 60 visitors came to the annual Fairtrade Café event run by the children of St Andrew’s School.
They enjoyed cups of freshly brewed tea and coffee plus homemade cakes.
It was held as part of the children’s studies about the imbalance of trade between the First and Third World.
It also seeks to raise awareness of the availability of Fairtrade goods in our local shops and supermarkets.
The Vicar of St Andrew’s, Rev Graham Witts, said: “I am very pleased that the cafe was such a success and helped raise awareness of the need for fairer trading agreements between the First and Third World.”
“The children were great ambassadors for the whole idea of Fairtrade as well as providing us with an enjoyable and informative morning.”
Alongside the café was a display of children’s work, a quiz about Fairtrade, and a Tradecraft stall run by Chris Wreay.
