Crufts appearance for Burnham-On-Sea man’s ‘remarkable’ rescue dog

-

A ‘remarkable’ rescue dog owned by a Burnham-On-Sea man has competed at this year’s Crufts.

Spencer Dibble took Daisy, his “very affectionate” four-year-old Red Fox Labrador to the leading dog show as part of a local team.

Daisy is a dog born to work and trains regularly at The Woodspring Dog Training Club and is trained by Annette Gibson.

Spencer said: “Daisy is a remarkable dog, who has had three previous owners in her short life, before becoming originally fostered by Annette and I who decided to keep her as our own.”

She was invited to become a member of the Woodspring club’s competition team for their beginners class position, and was later invited to attend a training and selection day for the South-West Inter-Regional team.

“This resulted in a phone call from the team manager and trainer, Steph Woolham, to say she was in the team and would appear at Crufts!” added a delighted Spencer.

A number of training days then followed leading up to the big day at Crufts.

Spencer’s partner Annette, who handled Daisy, said the Cruft’s appearance was “a great honour”.

The team finished second overall to competition winners ‘The North of England’.
