Dozens of music acts to perform today at Burnham-On-Sea FolkFest

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s annual FolkFest continues today (Saturday) with scores of great music and dance acts performing across the town.

The popular event, which started on Thursday, will see dozens of free musical acts and dance groups performing in venues across the town centre.

One of the organisers, Graham Cook, added: “We have around 80 live acts during the whole weekend playing in seven venues.”

“There’s a great mixture of music again this year that will suit all tastes with plenty of really good new acts. We’re also holding some traditional sessions in the Waterfront pub on Saturday at 2pm and 5pm when any musicians can just turn up and join in.”

“There are also lots of workshops and children’s activities on Saturday in the Baptist Church in College Street, plus a dance area outside for dance and clogging groups to perform.”

The event will continue on Sunday with Folk In The Park, a great afternoon of entertainment from 12pm-6pm in the Manor Gardens. Along with great music there will also be children’s entertainment, inflatables, a real ale tent and refreshments.

Comedy music group New Rope String Band, supported by Bristol duo Glowglobes, formally opened the event at the FolkFest Grand Opening Concert on Friday night.
