Social evening tonight will thank Burnham tourist centre’s volunteers

-

A social evening to thank the team of volunteers who run Burnham-On-Sea’s tourist information centre is to be held this evening (Monday).

BIARS (Burnham Information and Rescue Support) has run the thriving centre with the help of volunteers since taking over it from Sedgemoor District Council four years ago in April 2011.

This evening’s special event is being held at The Oaktree Arena from 7.30pm.

“We really appreciate all the help of our marvellous volunteers who run our information centre and this event is being held as a thank you to them,” said BIARS Chairman Tom Ashton.

Cllr Peter Downing, Chairman of Sedgemoor District Council, will be presenting certificates of thanks to the volunteers.

Several local accommodation providers and businesses who benefit from tourism locally have also been invited to attend and become ‘Friends of BIARS’.

Tickets, to include a buffer supper, are still available at £6 per head from the centre for businesses and friends, with volunteers and their guests free.
