Air ambulance lands in Burnham to fly man to hospital after ladder fall

-

An air ambulance landed in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea on Monday morning (March 23rd) to fly a casualty to hospital following an accident.

A man was injured when he fell from a high ladder while working at a nearby property, prompting several ambulances to be called, alongside the helicopter.

The red Devon air ambulance pictured here landed at Crosses Penn, next to the town’s Manor Gardens – the first time that such a helicopter has landed there.

Melodie Mapstone, Communications Manager at South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We received the call at 11.17am to a residential address where someone had fallen from a ladder.”

“We sent both land vehicles and an air ambulance and the patient was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol.”

She added: “Their injuries aren’t thought to be life-threatening.”

The usual yellow Somerset air ambulance was busy at the time of the incident, therefore requiring a helicopter from neighhouring Devon instead.
