Residents in Burnham-On-Sea have three weeks longer to submit their comments to Sedgemoor District Council regarding future plans for the town.
The district council published its ‘Local Development Framework Core Strategy’ report last month, which outlines how Burnham might develop over the next 20 years.
The proposals include creating 1,000 new jobs, building 1,300 extra homes, launching a new flood prevention scheme, plus restoring Burnham’s regeneration project.
An eight week public consultation period was due to end on 24th November, but this has now been extended to 18th December.
The results of this consultation will help the council prepare a draft plan, which is due to be published next summer.
“The new deadline will ensure that as many people as possible have the opportunity to comment on the future planning policies and proposals for the district. Some additional drop in sessions and meetings are also planned and details will be available shortly,” council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
Planning Policy Manager Nick Tait added: “We have had a good level of interest in the planning policies and development locations we are proposing for Sedgemoor up to 2026, and consultation events around the District have attracted significant numbers.”
” Due to the level of interest, we have decided to give people extra time to have their say.
