Spring clean for Burnham-On-Sea’s beach following high tides

-

Volunteers joined forces with council beach wardens to conduct a Spring clean of Burnham-On-Sea and Berrow beaches on Friday (March 27th).

They included staff from Burnham’s Tesco supermarket, who helped in the clean-up in readiness for the start of the Easter holiday season.

Organised by Sedgemoor District Council, the event saw the beach between Berrow beach car park and Maddocks Slade cleaned.

“Following the recent high tides and general winter debris in the area, there was a lot of rubbish on local beaches and Sedgemoor has been trying to get it cleaned up before the holiday season starts in earnest,” explained spokeswoman Claire Faun.

She thanked all those who took part in the beach cleans in Burnham and at Berrow. All the litter collected was taken away and will be recycled, where possible, by Sedgemoor District Council.
