Burnham-On-Sea’s Threshers off-licence safe for the moment

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Threshers off-licence is not on the list of stores closing due to the firm being put into administration.

Staff at the Threshers store in College Street were relieved to be told on Friday (November 20th) that the shop is not among a further 381 stores across the UK earmarked for a new round of closures.

A spokeswoman for KPMG, the administrators, confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com on Friday: “The Burnham-On-Sea store is not currently on our list of those closing. It is safe for now.”

Burnham-On-Sea.com reported earlier this month that the store faced an uncertain future after the retailer’s parent company, First Quench Retailing, went into administration.

The group, which trades as Threshers, Wine Rack, Haddows and The Local, has 1,300 shops. KPMG say they would look to save “as many jobs as possible” by selling the business as a going concern. Threshers has suffered from increased competition from supermarkets in recent years.
