Cash stolen from Burnham-On-Sea seafront cafe in overnight robbery

-

Thieves smashed their way into this seafront cafe in Burnham-On-Sea early on Sunday (September 16th), taking a substantial amount of money.

Two windows were broken to gain entry to the building in the overnight robbery at The Bay View Cafe on the South Esplanade.

Owner Ann Fudge told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The thieves smashed a glass door and broke their way into the building through a window on the sea side of the building.”

“A large amount of money was taken.”

She added: “It has come as a big shock to us all – you don’t expect something like this to happen.”

She said that the damaged windows have been boarded up and police are inspecting CCTV coverage to see whether the culprits are on the footage.

Meanwhile, police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on their non-emergency number 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
