Burnham-On-Sea Police and fire crews were called to a crash on the M5 motorway on Thursday afternoon (December 7th) where a car had crashed down a roadside bank.
Fire crews from Burnham-On-Sea were called soon after 12.39pm to the M5 Northbound between junctions 22 for Burnham and 21 for Weston.
“Two fire appliances from Burnham-On-Sea, together with a Rescue Tender from Taunton, were mobilised to a report of a single vehicle RTC, where a car was seen to have left the carriageway and gone down an embankment, with persons inside believed to be trapped,” said a spokesman.
“However, shortly after the initial crew from Burnham arrived, they confirmed that whilst the car had gone down the embankment, the female driver was out on our arrival.”
“The Rescue Tender was returned as it was not required, but the remaining crews stayed on scene to assist the Highways Agency with making the vehicle and the scene safe, before leaving duty of care with them.”
“The female driver was left with the ambulance crew and was being checked over as a precaution.”
