£4,550 raised for Stroke Association by traditional wassailing evening

-

A bumper cheque for £4,550 has been presented to the Stroke Association this week following a successful night of wassailing near Burnham-On-Sea earlier in the year.

The event at Rich’s Cider Farm in Watchfield was organised by the Rotary Club of Burnham-On-Sea, supported by The Skimmity Hitchers and Bob Darch Music.

The annual event has grown during recent years and is well attended by locals in a tradition to ward off evil spirits and ensure there is a good apple crop.

“Burnham Rotary Club would like to thank Richs Cider, Ken & Sue Jones, and also Bob Darch for their continued support,” said a spokesman.

George Scott will also be running the London marathon in aid of the Stroke Association this April. The 2016 wassailing event will take place on Saturday, January 16th in aid of Burnham-On-Sea RNLI.
