Burnham-On-Sea cyclist to pedal from Land’s End to Hinkley for charity

-

A Burnham-On-Sea man is gearing up to cycle from Land’s End to Hinkley Point to raise charity cash.

Andy Brewer, pictured, works at the power station and hopes to complete the 180 mile ride later this month to raise cash for a charity that helps children with learning difficulties.

He will get on his bike on September 27th with 14 other cyclists who also work at Hinkley Point to undertake the challenge.

The group will be raising funds for Taunton Opportunity Group (TOG), a charity that supports pre-school children with a range of learning difficulties.

They will set off next Friday morning and aim to arrive back at Hinkley on Saturday evening where they will be welcomed home by family, friends and representatives from the charity at a barbecue in nearby Cannington.

David Hancock, TOG’s representative, said: “We cannot thank the cyclists enough. They are setting themselves a real challenge in an attempt to raise money for our pre-school.”

“The riders and supporters are very grateful to all the sponsors including Magnox, AM Sensors, Promanex, Darbus, Bridgwater and Albion Rugby Club, Kitsons and Thirsty Work and the Friendly Spirit in Cannington.”

The group hope to raise at least £2000 from the event and anyone would like to make a donation should contact Joanne.hellier@magnoxsites.com.
