The long-awaited £140,000 revamp of Apex Park’s play area in Highbridge has been completed and the new facility was officially opened by Cllr Jane Moreton, Chairman of Sedgemoor District Council, on Thursday (December 3rd).
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the new play area, attended by parents, children, councillors and even a clown, as pictured above.
The old play area has been replaced with a state-of-the-art ‘playscape’ with numerous items of modern equipment.
Sedgemoor District Council says natural materials such as sand, bark mulch and timber have been used in combination with a variety of equipment such as a climber, roundabout, grass hopper see-saw, swings, a trampoline and an aerial cableway.
The new playscape has been funded by a grant from the Big Lottery (£60,000), £73,462 from developer contributions (Policy RLT2) and £6,538.00 from Sedgemoor District Council.
