This pair of baggy underpants was judged the winner of Somerset’s annual Turnip Prize on Monday night (December 7th).
The winning artwork, named ‘Manhole Cover’, was displayed above the bar at the New Inn in Wedmore, near Burnham-On-Sea, where the winner was chosen.
The award is handed out every year at this time of year for bad artworks.
Landlord Trevor Prideaux presented the ‘artist’, who called herself Frank Van Bough, with a turnip, completing the tradition, which first began ten years ago.
Frank said she was “completely underwhelmed” at winning, while the event’s co-organiser, James Timms, said the contest had reached “new standards of low”.
The spoof award is voted for by Wedmore residents and entrants can be disqualified for putting too much effort into their entries.
