Burnham-On-Sea fire crews called out six times during flash floods

-

Burnham-On-Sea fire crews were called out six times in just over two hours at the height of Monday morning’s flash flooding.

Torrential rain left roads like Brean’s Warren Road, above, and Burnham’s Maple Drive, right, under several inches of water – in addition to many homes.

Burnham fire crews were first called out at 6.02am to a flooded property on the Mark Causeway.

They were then called back out at 6.35am to flooding in a home in Brent Road, East Brent.

And at 7.34am, they helped flooded residents at a home in West End, Wedmore. They were called out again at 7.51am to another flooded home on the Mark Causeway. And there were separate calls at 7.52am to flooding in Rooksbridge Road, Rooksbridge and at 8.23am to Withy Road in East Huntspill.

“The Burnham crew had a busy couple of hours during the exceptional weather conditions,” spokesman Paul Slaven told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
