Mayor congratulates Highbridge In Bloom team after award win

-

Highbridge’s Mayor has this week congratulated the organisers of the town’s entry into the annual Britain In Bloom competition after they won a sought-after Silver Gilt award.

As first reported last week by Burnham-On-Sea.com, the Highbridge In Bloom team joined hundreds of representatives from towns across the south west at Weston’s Winter Gardens for the awards ceremony where the win was announced.

Mayor Ken Smout this week formally congratulated the Highbridge team – consisting of Phil and Pam Lyes, Joyce Curtis, Janet Keen, Bill Fisher and Ray Reddish – for winning the Silver Gilt award in the Ayre Cup category and seven neighbourhood awards.

Highbridge In Bloom’s Pam Lyes told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s wonderful that Highbridge has retained its Silver Gilt award and that all the hard word by the community has paid off.”

She thanked all those who helped with the work to prepare the town for this year’s judging, who included Highbridge Dreamscheme, Burnham and Highbridge Town Council, Sedgemoor District Council and Groves Xtreme Clean.

Burnham and Highbridge Mayor Ken Smout told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The team have done so well to win a Silver Gilt award again this year, bringing the community together in a positive way.”

Burnham’s Marine Cove Gardens were also praised by the judges, who awarded it an ‘outstanding’ neighbourhood award.
