Burnham runners set to compete in today’s London Marathon

-

A Burnham-On-Sea pensioner will be among several local runners taking part in the London Marathon on Sunday.

Sue Nicholls, 69, will be running her fifth London Marathon to raise funds for charity.

Sue, right, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I’ll be running for Cancer Research UK. I’m hoping for a good time after completing it in 3 hours and 35 minutes last year.”

Sue was named the UK’s leading 65+ female half-marathon athlete by Athletics Weekly magazine two years ago and is a keen member of Burnham Harriers running club.

Other London Marathon runners include Kevin Clements from Burnham who is running for British Heart Foundation, and Stuart Tilley who is running for Cancer Research UK.

George Scott, from Watchfield near Highbridge, will also be running his first London Marathon.

George, 22, is taking part to raise funds for the Stroke Association, in memory of a family friend who suffered a stroke last year.
