24 Burnham-On-Sea beach dog walkers fined as warning is issued

-

24 dog owners in Burnham-On-Sea have been fined during the past year for walking their pets on the town’s beach between the jetty and Pavilion.

Sedgemoor District Council has this week revealed the number of dog owners who have received £75 fines in a bid to deter owners from getting caught.

Council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Sedgemoor District Council is reminding all dog walkers that there’s a year-round dog ban on Burnham-On-Sea beach between the jetty and the Pavilion.”

“Over the past year, 24 fixed penalty notices have been issued in this area. It is an offence to take a dog onto this part of the beach at any time and the fine is £75. There is clear signage in place to show the banned area.”

She added: “Dogs are allowed between the Jetty and the Yacht club and from the Pavilion to Maddocks Slade between September to the end of April each year.”
