A new butcher’s shop is set to open in Burnham-On-Sea town centre this Spring in a move that will be welcomed by shoppers.
The new business, selling a wide range of fresh local meat, plans to open in the High Street in time for the start of the busy holiday season.
The owners – who already run a small butchers shop in Worle, near Weston – told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week that they are in final negotiations to acquire a unit at the southern end of Burnham-On-Sea High Street.
“We are waiting for the landlord / owner of the unit. We will then be able to start internal work, and we want to be in and open by the Spring,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“We have the staff and finances lined up, so just need to get the shop ready and equipment, such as fridges, installed.”
A Burnham-On-Sea Chamber of Trade spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We very much welcome the plans for a new butcher’s shop in Burnham town centre. It would be a great addition to our High Street that would further expand the variety of independent shops we have.”
The town has been without a dedicated meat shop since 2009 when the Palmers, the last butcher’s shop in Burnham-On-Sea closed.
Last year, new greengrocer shop Gardiner-Whites opened in Burnham-On-Sea High Street and has become popular with shoppers.
