Refuse collectors starting to catch up in Burnham area after cold snap

-

Somerset Waste Partnership is continuing to catch up on missed waste and recycling collections in the Burnham-On-Sea area following the recent severe wintry weather.

The contractor May Gurney is putting all available resources into catching up with the backlog of collections, it said on Tuesday (January 19th).

“During the period 6th-14th January, more than half of scheduled collections across Somerset could not be made so there is still some backlog which we project will be caught up by this Friday, 22nd January,” Somerset Waste Partnerhsip’s Mark Blaker told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“We apologise that in some areas the garden waste service has been suspended this week because these vehicles are being used to help catch up on refuse. An additional collection will be made next week for these customers, and then again the following week to bring us back to the usual cycle.”

Highbridge Waste Recycling Centre is open and will accept black sack type waste, as well as the full range of recyclable materials accepted at the kerbside. Daily opening hours are 9am to 5pm.
