Bright sunshine and a VIP guest brought crowds of people to Brent Knoll on Saturday afternoon (May 16th) for a mad hatter’s tea party.
BBC Somerset presenter Emma Britton opened the colourful event at St Michael’s Church where cream teas, stalls, games, family competitions and a baking contest were held.
The fundraiser, which included live music from the Scrumpy Sax Quartet, raised £600 for local churches in the parish.
A bake-off contest saw budding bakers creating Victoria Sponge sandwiches, jam tarts, cup cakes and decorated cakes with a mad hatter’s tea party theme.
A Mad Hat competition was also held, along with a contest for flower decorations in a tea pot or cup.
Organiser Mike Smith told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We had a steady flow of visitors through the afternoon for this fun new event, which was blessed with some great weather. It was enjoyed by everyone!”
The baking entries were judged by Emma Britton and Alison Barnes of Let’s Celebrate Cakes
