Brent Knoll singer Gracie Wickens-Sweet joins Guides on Burnham visit

-

Young Brent Knoll singer Gracie Wickens-Sweet, who will be appearing on the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent this Wednesday (May 27th), made a visit into Burnham this week with a group of Guides.

The girls from Brent Knoll Guides made a visit to the Foodbank in Burnham-On-Sea to learn more about its work.

Gracie and the girls began their visit at Lidl supermarket in the town where they were given a small budget and a list of the types of food that the Foodbank requires.

They enjoyed shopping and tried to buy as much as they could with their budget. Once the shopping was completed, they walked to the Foodbank to ‘weigh in’ their food. They were met by Alan, the manager of the Foodbank, who gave the Guides an interesting talk on what the Foodbank is, how it works and who can use it.

The group’s leader, Jane Sinnott, said: “The visit to was a great chance for the girls to find out about this community charity and they especially enjoyed the shopping experience – thank you to the staff at Lidl who were very welcoming and patient with the girls!”

“The guides were pleased to see one of their members, Gracie, join them. The guides are all thrilled Gracie that received four yeses from the TV judges last week and will be supporting her again this Wednesday.”

Visits like this are just part of the range of activities open to girls and young women through Girlguiding, which gives them their own space to grow in confidence, raise their aspirations and have fun.
