More than 80 people sharpened up their pencils and put on their ‘thinking caps’ to take part in a fundraising quiz organised by Burnham and Highbridge’s Mayor on Saturday evening (February 13th).
The event, held in Highbridge Community Hall, raised £515 for the Mayor’s Charity of the Year, The Friends of Burnham Hospital.
Mayor Derick Cooper and Mayoress Christine Cooper were joined by dozens of local residents and councillors at the well-supported fundraiser.
“It was good to see so many people. We are very grateful for all the support shown for my charity of the year,” Derick told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
Tony Deahl, Chairman of The Friends of Burnham Hospital, added: “Thanks must go to the Mayor for making us the charity of the year and all those who came along to the event.”
“We were also delighted to enrol 35 new members and anyone else wanting to support Burnham Hospital and become a ‘Friend’ can do so for an annual subscription of just £5 by calling 01278 783121.”
