Rays of hope for Burnham-On-Sea anglers during poor fishing season

-

A pair of Thornback Rays each weighing more than 10lb helped two anglers land the two top places during a sea fishing competition in Burnham on Sunday (March 7th).

The fish were reeled in from boats around the waters around Stert Island during what has so far been a poor fishing season.

Anthony Georgiou, pictured right, took first place at the Burnham-On-Sea Boat Owners Association event, catching an 11lb 8oz Ray.

Nigel Devey was awarded second place for his 10lb 15oz Ray, while third place was claimed by Craig Willis with a 10lb Thornback. Fourth spot was taken by Andy Georgiou with a 3lb 9oz cod.

The fishing season continues to be poor, with decent catches being few and far between across the Bristol Channel.
