Two groups of generous Burnham residents have raised hundreds of pounds for a local hospice charity.
The successful weight loss of members at a Burnham-On-Sea slimming group led to £150 being donated to St. Margaret’s Somerset Hospice.
Carol Langdon who runs Slimming World classes in Bridgwater and Burnham, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The group brought in the clothes that were too big for them following their successful weight loss so other members of the group could purchase them for £1 per item.”
“The clothing sale raised £150 for St. Margaret’s and the clothes that weren’t sold were donated to the local St. Margaret’s Shop.
Julie Draper, fundraiser for St. Margaret’s visited the group to collect their cheque and said: “Thanks to the Jaycroft Road Slimming World group for holding their clothes sale for St. Margaret’s. The members of the group have done so well.”
Meanwhile, charitable Burnham residents Mike and Denice Perrin raised £340 for St. Margaret’s Somerset Hospice following their festive contribution to the town.
The Perrin’s covered their home in colourful Christmas lights which were switched on by BBC Somerset’s Emma Britton last December.
Mike, who volunteers for the charity as a Day Care driver, has this week handed over the cash to go towards this particular aspect of the St. Margaret’s service.
