Armed Forces Day ceremonies to be held in Burnham and Highbridge

-

A ceremony to mark Armed Forces Day will be held in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge today (Saturday, June 27th).

Burnham and Highbridge Mayor Michael Clarke will lead a flag-raising ceremony at 10am by community hall in Market Street, Highbridge.

Then at 10.30am a ceremony will be held in Burnham besides the flag pole and town water fountain at the junction of the High Street and Marine Drive.

“Residents are encouraged to join the ceremonies, which are being held as a demonstration of support for our Armed Forces,” explained Town Clerk Denise Emery.

Burnham’s Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) branch will hold a ‘Brew for the Few’ coffee morning to mark Armed Forces Day in The Railway pub afterwards at 11am.

Armed Forces Day is held each year to raise public awareness of the contribution made to the country by the Armed Forces, and it also gives people an opportunity to show their support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces.
