A 16-stone boar was rescued from a water-filled ditch by Burnham-On-Sea and Bridgwater fire crews in Lympsham on Tuesday night (March 6th).
Crews were called at 6.23pm to help the stranded animal, which was stuck in a rhyne in Brean Road, Lympsham.
“Two fire appliances from Burnham-On-Sea, and a specialist rescue team from Bridgwater were all sent to reports of a boar in a rhyne,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“On arrival, crews confirmed a 16-stone boar was stuck in a foot of water. Crews formulated a plan to rescue the boar using strops, lines and a pig board.”
“Crews were able to rescue the boar and carried out decontamination of their kit before leaving the incident.”
