Two huge cranes towered over Burnham-On-Sea’s Sailing Club on Thursday morning (March 18th) when the annual spring ‘crane-in’ saw 19 boats hoisted into the River Brue.
The annual tradition is arranged each Spring by Burnham Sailing Club when the boats are lifted out of the sheltered boat yard and next to the river pontoons for the start of the new sailing season.
It was an early start for the Sailing Club members, with the operation to move the boats kicking off at 5.30am.
“A total of 19 yachts were craned into the river and one winter fishing boat was taken out. Despite a poor weather forecast, we had perfect calm conditions,” Commodore Ken Sowden told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
