St Patrick’s Day was celebrated with a night of Irish-themed fun at a Burnham-On-Sea tennis club at the weekend.
Members of the Avenue Tennis Club enjoyed an air guitar performance from youngsters James Cameron, Cameron and Jarrod Nell during the evening, pictured right.
Head coach Vinny Duddy said the night was enjoyed and he praised the efforts of club members Julie Cameron, Lynn O Dell and Jane Sanders who spent a lot of time preparing, serving and clearing up afterwards.
The food on the evening was excellent with dumplings and Irish Stew followed by Baileys Bread and Butter Pudding which, at £8 for adults and £4 for children, was excellent value as this also included the cost of a disco.
Meanwhile, the club’s ‘Lazy Town Tennis Party’ was severely impacted by the poor weather on Friday night and therefore was not well attended. Duddy said the rain just kept falling right up to 6.30pm and therefore most people decided to stay in and support Sport Relief on TV. However, several youngsters did attend and made the effort to get sponsored, in particular Liam Reddish who almost filled up his sponsorship sheet.
The next event is an Easter junior tennis camp at the club, which be run from 12th – 16th April and places can be booked through the club on 01278 782758.
