Further heavy rain is set to sweep across the Burnham-On-Sea area during Wednesday and Thursday, leading a new weather warning being issued by the Met Office.
Forecasters predict a further 20-40 mm of rain is likely to fall, leading to an increased risk of more flooding.
A yellow warning has been issued for the south west, including the Burnham area.
“An active frontal system will move eastwards across the UK during Wednesday, bringing a period of heavy rain to south western parts during the morning before a second wave of heavy rain during the evening.”
The Met Office says further rainfall is expected on Thursday and at the weekend.
“This additional rainfall means that the public should be prepared for an increased risk of both surface water and river flooding.”
The mild, wet weather has swept away remaining hopes of a ‘white Christmas’ but there is still a chance of a wintry end to the festive period with some forecasters preducting a cold snap over New Year.
