Burnham-On-Sea theatre thanks its 70 volunteers during festive party

-

More than 70 volunteers who help to run Burnham-On-Sea’s Princess Theatre have this week been thanked for their support during a special Christmas party.

Dozens of helpers gathered at the theatre on Thursday night (December 20th) for an informal festive celebration.

Peter Burridge-Clayton, Chairman of the Princess Management Committee, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I would like to say a very big thank you to all the volunteers at the Princess. The theatre and arts centre is going from strength to strength and that couldn’t be achieved without the tremendous support we have had over the past 18 months.”

“We have now got over 70 volunteers and they have been a great help in many areas at the Princess. The café/bar area is now complete and is bringing in a steady income and since the arts lounge was completed a few weeks ago the sales of local art has been extremely good and beyond expectations.”

“We have also had a big increase in the ‘Friends of the Princess’ and this has been very encouraging for the ongoing success of the theatre. We are still looking for additional volunteers and friends, and would welcome further support.”

“Those interested can call in at the arts lounge and talk to our staff and volunteers Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 3pm. or give us a ring on 01278 784464. If you are an artist and interested in exhibiting please contact Neil on 07814769092.”

Meanwhile, he added that the theatre’s January to April what’s on guide has been printed and will be delivered through doors in the next few weeks.

Peter said: “I am sure 2013 will be a very exciting year for the Princess with many improvements already completed and many more to come, the scope for developing new ventures also increases. We are now in a position to move forward with many of the ideas in our business plan and provide a quality multi-use venue for the residents of our area.”

“I must also thank our staff, Andy and Craig, for their over-and-above efforts in the management of the theatre, and also the management committee who have all worked with a passion to see the Princess has a great long term sustainable future ensuring that Burnham and Highbridge will always have a quality arts centre and theatre.”

“May I also take this opportunity to wish everybody involved with the Princess and all our residents a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year, and I hope as many people as possible call in to see us and see some of the excellent work that is being carried out.”
