Burnham-On-Sea residents have been warned that time is running out to get themselves registered to vote in May’s general election.
To vote, residents must appear on the Register of Electors and the last date for applications to get listed is Tuesday, April 20th.
If you are already registered, you will receive your poll card within the next week or so, which will show where your polling station is situated.
If you require a postal vote you need to apply and return a form to the elections office at Sedgemoor District Council before Tuesday 20th April. Proxy applications need to be received by Tuesday 27th April.
The council has issued advice to people who have recently moved to Burnham or moved property.
Electoral Services Manager Chris Facey told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “People who have moved house recently also need to take note. When you change address, you need to re-register with your new details.”
“Just because you are paying council tax at your new address doesn’t automatically mean that you will be on the electoral register there – you need to contact us separately. This applies whether you have bought your home, or whether are renting.”
