Fire crews were called out to rescue a horse stuck in a ditch near Burnham-On-Sea on Monday evening (July 27th).
Burnham firefighters were called to Pill Road in Rooksbridge at 8pm after local residents reported the horse was standed in a water-filled ditch.
One fire appliance from Cheddar along with the Specialist Rescue Team from Bridgwater were also sent to help.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “A 16 hand horse had become stranded in a ditch filled with approximately 5ft of water.”
“A vet was in attendance to sedate the horse while crews used lines, lifting strops and a local farmers telehandler to successfully rescue the animal.”
