Deadline nears for feedback on plans for 102 new Highbridge homes

-

Residents living near a proposed development of more than 100 new homes in Highbridge have just a few hours remaining to submit their feedback on the scheme.

Gaia Partnership and Wessex Water are seeking outline planning permission to build the new development on land at the western end of Newtown Road in Highbridge, shown above.

They have submitted indicative layout plans to Sedgemoor District Council to show how the site could be developed to accommodate 102 dwellings.

The deadline for submitting feedback is the end of today (Monday, January 7th).

Sedgemoor’s planning team will then consider whether the scheme is referred to its Development Control Committee for further consideration.

The site is located next to the controversial Clyce boatyard development by the River Brue. Sedgemoor’s Development Control Committee granted those plans, for 85 homes, approval last June despite a petition against the scheme being signed by 91 people.

They cited concerns about site access, parking and the additional strain that the new homes would put on the town’s schools, roads and health surgeries.
