An appeal for information has been issued after a bicycle theft in Burnham-On-Sea town centre.
The bike was stolen on Wednesday 29th July from the small private car park adjacent to Peter’s Hairdressers in Cross Street between 2.45pm and 3.10pm.
The bronze-coloured Carlton Corsair is no longer manufactured, so is fairly rare.
The owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was certainly opportunist. I think whoever took it probably rode it away because they removed the saddle bag and left it on the ground, possibly to facilitate lowering the saddle for that purpose.”
The owner has reported the incident to Burnham Police and the national Stolen Bikes website. Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or via Burnham-On-Sea.com here.
“Maybe somebody else has been a recent victim but hasn’t announced it,” added the owner. “We all get a bit complacent at times and the more we share such news the better forewarned we will be.”
“Bicycle owners should please, please note the frame number of their bike and also register it with the police, who will UVF mark bikes free of charge. It would be nice if I thought my experience could at least help others avoid the anguish and inconvenience that bicycle theft generates.”
A £50 reward has been offered leading to the bike’s return.
