A Burnham-On-Sea town centre cafe has got its five-star rating for food hygiene back after getting a surprise poor rating earlier in the year.
BOS Cafe in Burnham-On-Sea High Street received a ‘two-star’ rating in Sedgemoor District Council’s food hygiene inspection, run in conjunction with the government’s Food Standards Agency.
“We’ve always had five-star hygiene scores for many years because we take our food hygiene very seriously – and the low rating was a shock to us,” the owner of the cafe, Oktay Aka, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“We were penalised for one day’s problems – the day the reviewers visited us last November, we were struggling with a lack of staff due to illness, so tables on that one day were not cleared as quickly as usual and this led to our low score.”
He added: “The issue was quickly resolved and are we are pleased to have our five stars back.”
