Dozens of Burnham-On-Sea residents took part in a Tai Chi taster day on Saturday (April 24th).
Over 50 people of all ages flexed and stretched themselves at the event in Burnham Community Centre, which also included displays on holistic therapy and reflexology.
The successful event – held to mark the World Tai Chi and Qigong Day – was jointly organised by the Burnham’s Bubbling Springs Tai Chi group and the town’s Womens Institute.
Organiser Cheryl Mountford from Bubbling Springs told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The afternoon went really well – but not without a lot of hard work by everyone involved. We raised just over £400, which will go to the Friends of the Community Centre.”
“It is the first World Tai Chi and Qigong day I have organised. It was founded by Bill Douglas in the States and has been running since 1999 – the same year I started teaching tai chi!”
