Wind farm company’s controversial plans go on display

-

Green electricity company Ecotricity is to hold an open day next week where its controversial proposals for five new wind turbines in West Huntspill will go on display.

The exhibition on the ‘Black Ditch’ project is being held on Tuesday 11th May at Balliol Village Hall, Church Road in West Huntspill between 12pm and 7pm.

Photomontages will be on display to give an impression of what the windmills will look like from various locations in the area.

There will also be other information on the proposal available, including the detailed environmental studies that have already been carried out, how the site was selected, how wind power technology works, and how it helps combat the climate change.

“It will allow local residents to see and hear about the latest details of the plans for themselves, and to find out more about wind power in general. Members of the Ecotricity team will be on-hand to answer any questions,” Ecotricity spokesman Mike Cheshire told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

If approved by district council planners, the wind farm generate enough electricity for the equivalent of over 7,810 homes and save over 11,000 tonnes of CO2 going into the atmosphere each year.

Local residents who are unable to make the open day can find more information and submit comments via Ecotrocity’s website here.

Local residents have held several well-attended public meetings where opposition to the plans has been expressed.
