Burnham-On-Sea Town Band’s new season starts on a high note

-

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Band gave a superb performance of music from stage and screen to open their new season at the weekend.

The Princess Theatre’s near-capacity audience all left with smiles on their faces after the show on Sunday evening (April 15th).

‘From Dam Busters to Ghostbusters’ was a great debut for the band’s new conductor, Ellis Holt, who struck up an friendly rapport with the audience.

They were treated to a programme featuring a wide range of favourite tunes, with the favourites being the trombones’ spirited rendition of ‘I Will Follow Him,’ and the wistful, ever-popular ‘Amazing Grace’.

Two encores were demanded before the band was finally allowed to leave the stage at the end of the evening.

“There is no doubt that the band is inspired and excited by his energy and encouragement, and they are anticipating an excellent season ahead as the summer approaches,” said spokeswoman Joan Locock.
